Sodium Gluconate

Sodium Gluconate is a white crystalline powder produced through the fermentation of glucose. Gluconic acid is first produced through fermentation, and then reacted with Sodium Hydroxide and a catalyst in an in-situ process, followed by crystallization. Sodium Gluconate is commonly used as an ion chelating agent, surface cleaner, pH buffer in food, stabilizer in food processing, setting retarding agent in construction, and water reducing agent

In the food industry, sodium gluconate is used as a chelating agent and stabilizer to improve the stability of products such as dairy, fruits, vegetables and processed meats. In construction, it is used as a concrete retarder, delaying the setting time without affecting strength.

In water treatment, sodium gluconate serves as a sequestrant for magnesium, iron, aluminum, copper, and calcium ions. In the textile industry, it is used for fiber cleaning and degreasing, improving the intensity of dyes. Sodium gluconate is also used in oil well drilling as an ingredient in drilling mud. In metal surface cleaning, it is used as a cleaning agent with anti-corrosive properties.

Sodium Gluconate is a useful chelating agent & an efficient stabiliser cum inert property of thickener to improve the stability of food products. It mask bitter flavours and therefore used in dairy products, processed fruit, vegetables, cereals, processed meats, preserved fish.

Sodium gluconate improve the workability and strength of concrete. Adding 0,5%-2% w/w sodium gluconate to Portland cement can prolong the starting and curing time of cement. Therefore delay the initial and final setting time of concrete without affecting the strength of concrete.

Sodium Gluconate is used as water stabilizer additive in cooling towers or cooling water plants. In case of boiler and other fields Gluconate treated water being used.
